A simple toon shader node group, to plug into the material nodes for a material. For use with the 3D modelling software Blender.
The example material adds a simple voronoi texture just to show how the shader works on varying colours.
Settings:
- Colour: The base colour, eg the output of whatever texture you're using.
- Normal: Insert custom normals or bump map here
- Highlight: How much to show the highlight colour. I usually have to tweak the lighting carefully for this to have much effect.
- Shadow: How much to show the shadow colours
- Fuzziness: How much to blur the shadow and highlight edges
- Glossiness: How glossy the material is
- Gradient: How much to add a dark gradient simulating shadow on the bottom of the object.
Here is a tutorial for making a similar shader which explains how everything works. I was heavily inspired by Kristof Dedene's great youtube tutorials.
I usually end up tweaking the settings a bit for different projects, but this gives somewhere to start!
